Paris – A Personal View

by soundlandscapes

I AM DELIGHTED TO present a new piece in my Paris – A Personal View series.

For each piece in the series I invite a guest who lives in Paris to visit one of their favourite places or a place in the city that has a special meaning for them. With access to a microphone and sound recorder the guest talks about the place and tells us why it’s special to them.

Today, my guest is Adam Roberts.

Adam is an Englishman who has lived in Paris for a little over fifteen years. As well as doing his demanding day job Adam finds time to write the very informative and popular Invisible Paris blog – a celebration of the parts of Paris that would be refused entry to the ville musée if they tried to get in today.

And Adam’s chosen place? The Hôpital Salpêtrière

I am very grateful to Adam for giving up his time to visit and talk about the Hôpital Salpêtrière.

Thanks Adam.

I’ve been following Adam’s Invisible Paris for several years now but I’ve never met him. Lovely to hear his voice. Thanks for that!

Thank you so much for your comment Nathalie. I can quite understand why you follow Adam’s Invisible Paris, I do too. This is the second project that I’ve worked on with Adam (the first was the Obscura Day earlier this year) and I can tell you that he is a delight to work with.

As an American living in the Netherlands, I still long to be in Paris. Hearing the sounds of it made dreams of Christmas in France for me come alive. It’s time I returned SOON for a visit. Oh, how I love Paris.

What a wonderful interview! I’ve followed Adam’s blog for quite a while, so it was of course delightful to hear his voice. But what a gift to hear him talk with such insight and erudition about a place I’ve always been curious about. I’ve just added another stop to my next trip. Thank you for conceiving this project — and for carrying it out so beautifully. Bravo !!

Thank you Heather. Yes, Adam is certainly an expert on Paris and it was a delight to work with him on this piece.
